17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us[a] from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

Fix me, heal me, deliver me, help me, how many of our conversations with the Lord Jesus Christ this year have been based on what I call the “something in it for me” syndrome.

I am noticing more and more that we are becoming a what’s in it for me based Christianity.

We worship and praise our Lord, when things are happening for us. When our prayers are answered quickly, when our bodies are healed, when our needs are met, we tend to be on fire for the Lord.

Many people are engaged in a relationship where they serve and worship for what’s in it for them. I am here to get my needs met, I am here for God to fix me, give me, help me. And let’s be honest we need to be fixed, we need to be healed and made whole.

But examine your relationship with Christ today. Are you in it for only what Christ can do for you?

I raise that question because many people get disenchanted with Christianity when things are not coming there way. The prosperity gospel draws people to church services, but people often leave when they don’t prosper materially right away.

The Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, respond to the reality of being thrown in a burning fiery furnace with the word, “even if we are not delivered, we still won’t bow”

Will you still love and worship God if you are not healed, delivered and blessed in our timetable?

One of the things I want to challenge us with as we approach 2019 is, letting God be God. That means he is Sovereign, he has the right to heal, deliver set free and bless, when it glorifies him, not when it pleases us.

Letting God be God means, accepting that you and he might not be on the same timetable for your deliverance and blessings.

Letting God be God means you may have to go in the fiery Furnace, you may have to endure some hardships, you may have some difficulties that you have to grit your teeth and press through.

Letting God be God means I love him and serve him, even from the midst of the fiery furnace, even if you get thrown in the lions den, I am still going to passionately worship and love you.

Father heal me when you want to heal me, deliver me when it glorifies you the most. Bless me when and how ever you want to bless me.

Say that with me, “ I am Going to let God be God in my life”

“Happy New You”
