“Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.” (Micah 7:8)

There was a song that was popular a few years back, by Donnie McClurkin that says, We fall down But we get up, We fall down, But we get up, We fall down, But we get up, For a saint, Is just a sinner who fell down, But we couldn't stay there, And got up. From a theological stand point I never bought into the line that a “saint is just a sinner who fell down”, however the lyrics of the song epitomize the Christians life on earth.

If you keep living my brother or Sister Christian, eventually something is going to trip you up and you are going to fall down.

Proverbs 24:16 for though a righteous man falls seven times, he will rise again, but the wicked stumble into calamity.

Psalm 145:14 The LORD helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads.

We don’t fall purposely, I doubt if any sincere Christian woke up this morning and said I think I will blow it today. I think I will mess up, I think I will fall short of the mark and give in to the temptation of the enemy. But time and again we find ourselves in the familiar position of down. How does this happen?

Psalm 118:13-14 explains it like this.” I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the LORD helped me. The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation” Notice the psalmist words, I was pushed hard Satan pushes us hard. He tempts us, agonizes us, assaults us, and bullies us until we sometimes fall. He constantly bombards us with attacks until we just give in. have you ever been there?

The apostle Paul put it this way in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 King James Version (KJV) 8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed. Isn’t that the way life really is sometimes.

I know I am speaking to someone today who has fallen, someone who will be honest and say the enemy won that round. I wish we lived in total every minute of every day, but the truth is sometime we mess up. And if we are not careful, we can stay down way to long, until discouragement, depression and despair set in.

I want you to hear me today, don’t give up, don’t quit, and don’t give up hope. God is able to pick you back up. You can say with Micah “Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me” Whatever you are going through my sister and my brother, it’s not over for you, God is still on your side.

If you fall down, don’t stay down, if you fall down don’t lay down. Get back up despite the feeling of apathy. Get back up despite the depression. Get back up despite the “naysayers”. Get back up despite the lies the devil is telling you. Get back up despite your own negative talk and the things you say to yourself that have hindered you in the past.

Let me tell you two things you need to do when you fall down. 1. Start over. No matter what made you call child of God, no matter how bad, ungodly or rebellious it was, if you have been saved by the death burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Start all over again, God is the God of the 2nd 3rd, 4th and 50th chance. Pick yourself up shake it off repent of it ask for forgiveness and start over again. 2. Forgive yourself. Get rid of the guilt, one of the tool Satan uses so effectively, is after we get up and start moving forward by faith, he keep us on a guilt trip, and even though God has forgiven you, you haven’t forgiven yourself. Don’t let the enemy have the victory after you fall, Get up right away. Don’t throw a pity party, get up, and say God has forgiven me, I forgive me and I am starting afresh with God all over again.

God loves you too much to see you stay down. Get back up!
